Inversion

Inversion therapy has long been used by not just physical therapists, but ancient cultures that practice yoga and other forms of natural healing and meditative practices.

Today, it’s a common form of therapy and recovery technique used by chiropractors, physical therapists, sports coaches, and others involves in health and fitness.

Just in case you’re not too familiar with inversion therapy, here are a few of the awesome benefits you can expect by simply inverting for a few minutes a day.

  • Spinal Pain Relief
  • 14% Increase In Brain Operation Accuracy
  • Relaxation- Decrease Muscle Tension by 35%
  • Strengthen Bones
  • Speed Up Post Workout Recovery

Beyond the scientific and medical studies that proves how effective inversion is, consider this other fact.

Bats and sloths are the only animals on Earth that never suffer from osteoarthritis. Can you guess why? Their innate ability to invert on a regular basis.

In addition to the mentioned benefits, we also have increased blood circulation, improved mood, posture, immunity, insomnia, and height maintenance (yes, it keeps us from getting shorter than if we don’t invert).

Inversion, technically speaking in medical terms, is when the body is placed in a position where the heart is above the head.

Since this isn’t a position that a lot of us are used to, there are a few precautions we should take before taking on inversion therapy.

Inversion
NOT The Recommended Method To Inversion Therapy

If we have any of the following conditions or symptoms, then we need to consult a physician first and get the okay before trying out inversion therapy.

  • Cardiac Problems (Heart Disease, Hypertension, taking blood thinner)
  • Eye Problems (Glaucoma, Pink Eye)
  • Hernias
  • Bone and Joint Problems (osteoporosis, arthritis)
  • Vertigo and Inner Ear Problems/Infections
  • Pregnancy

If you’re not experiencing any of the above or have been cleared to try out inversion, then you’re probably looking for the best method and apparatus.

With inversion tables, chairs, and even boots, it can be a confusing to find out which one is best.

My job is to give you a clear idea of which apparatus is best for your needs by the end of this article.

Best Inversion Gravity Boots On The Market

In search of the best tool for our inversion therapy, there are a few things we all need to keep in mind.

This is a tool that we should plan to keep and use for a long time to come. So not only should it be durable, but also comfortable and effective in its function.

Also, we shouldn’t be paying more than our fair share for something that’s truly worth a lower value. So price, as always is a big factor in our decision.

And most of all, we need to look at if the specific apparatus is something that we can benefit from. As discussed earlier, some of us may not be able to use inversion due to health conditions.

Checklist
Consider Every Factor Before Buying

BUT there is a workaround for a few of those conditions, and those workarounds are only applicable with certain apparatuses we use, as you’ll see.

So with all of these factors in mind, let’s get down to business!

Comfort

If we’re going to be upside down, we might as well be as comfortable as we can be! Comfort is a definite must when it comes to inverting.

Just being upside down already feels uncomfortable for some, so the tool we use to get there should provide maximal comfort to the farthest extent possible.

For comfort, I found that Inversion Tables like this one does the trick. Not only is it one of the best priced Inversion Tables, but it does everything we need to invert upside down safely and comfortably.

Although there’s no marker for the angle degree, the Exerpeutic Inversion Table has an angle adjuster so we can gradually ease into inversions closer to complete vertical whenever we’re ready, which adds to the comfort we experience.

The backrest is a soft foam padded surface, and our feet is secured by foam rollers and ankle cushions.

Along with adjustable height settings for users ranging from 4’4″ to 6’6″ and adjustable tether strap, you’d feel more comfortable on this table than not!

Not to be outdone, we also have this Inversion Chair, which features much of the same comfort features as that of the Exerpeutic Inversion Table.

The one big difference between the Health Mark IV18600 Pro Inversion Therapy Chair and a Inversion Table is we’re sitting with our legs bent during the inversion.

Comfy
Who Doesn’t Like Comfy?

This is the way for those with knees and ankle joint problems to experience the benefits of inverting. Stress on the knees and ankles are greatly reduced and even eliminated in some cases with the Inversion Chair compared to Inversion Tables.

Then we have the Body Solid GIB2 Inversion Boots, which is highly subjective when it comes to comfort.

I personally think the Inversion Boots are very comfortable, as my spine is fully aligned and gravity is working on every part of my body. The boots fit snugly around my lower calves and the padding makes for a nice cushion.

But it’s not feasible for those with ankle, knee, or hip problems and pain.

Since everything is hanging loose with the Inversion Boots, there’s a stretch and lengthening force applied to every joint in the body.

And this force can be very uncomfortable, or even painful to those with problems in common areas like the hips, knees, or ankles.

So as far as comfort goes, the safest bet is:

Effectiveness

Since we’re spending money on this thing, it better work right!

Each of the apparatus we went over have their strengths and weakness, but one of them stands out from the other two.

If you study how each one works, it’s obvious the Inversion Table and Inversion Chair work the same way. One has us laying down flat while the other keeps us in a sitting position.

But the Inversion Boots is a whole different animal when it comes to giving us the benefits of inversion therapy.

Most Inversion Tables and Chairs can only go back to around 160º inversion. While this can provide plenty of benefits, I personally can say that from experience, full inversion is the way to go.

Being able to fully invert mimics the animals that we see do it in nature. When the bats and sloths that never gets bone problems invert, it’s not almost vertical, it’s not just shy of completely upside down.

They’re hanging fully inverted.

Upside Down
Nothing Like Full-On Inversion, Right Kermit?

Along with being fully inverted, the benefits we get comes much quicker. Unlike Inversion Tables and Chairs where gravity decompresses our spine at an angle, Inversion Boots allows gravity to act fully on our body, decompressing our spinal discs much quicker.

Needless to say, this means all other benefits come much quicker as well. We’ll have better blood circulation, better recovery, whole body relaxation, etc. all happening at a faster rate with the Inversion Boots.

This is the #1 reason why I personally use Inversion Boots over Inversion Tables and Chairs.

Of course, if you find them to be uncomfortable, or have any of the physical conditions we discussed before, then I’d suggest starting out with the Inversion Chair or Inversion Table.

Otherwise, in terms of effectiveness, nothing beats the Inversion Boots.

Portability

I won’t spend too much time in this section here, we can see the obvious winner of the 3 inversion tools.

The one caveat with the Inversion Boots is that it requires something to hang onto, preferably at a height above our heads.

I personally use a pullup bar for support, and while it’s an extra purchase we’d have to make, it still comes out on top in terms of portability.

I can easily put my Inversion Boots in a gym bag along with a door frame mounted pullup bar, and I’m ready to invert regardless if I’m staying over in hotels, a friends’ place, or anywhere else.

Try that with an Inversion Table or Chair, I don’t think we’ll have the luxury of carrying them with you freely outside of our homes.

Clear winner here:

Durability

If we’re looking to have something for a long time, we can be sure that we get what we pay for.

At the same time however, the most durable products and objects are typically the most simple, i.e. things with the least amount of moving parts and details tends to last the longest.

Looking at the 3 different inversion tools, it’d seem the Inversion Boots would be the way to go. After all, it’s the smallest out of the 3 and has the least number of parts.

But the Inversion Table and Chair aren’t higher price for no reason.

Although they have more moving parts, are more intricate in their design, and more “fancy” overall, they still last quite a long time.

Looking at the customer reviews of both the Inversion Table and Inversion Chair, they seem to work fine even with years of usage.

I wouldn’t called any one of the product any more durable than another. Reviews and personal experience shows that all 3 can handle years of usage no problem.

Price

The last but not least of the deciding factors when we make our decision is obviously, the cost of the product.

Not too much to explain here, the price of each of the inversion tools are as follows.

I’m not too sure if the cost of the Inversion Chair really justifies the value it brings. The Inversion Table is a fraction of the price and provides the same inversion benefits.

However, if we are experiencing joint pains and lower body problems, the extra cost of the Inversion Chair is well worth it.

All in all, even if we don’t have a pullup bar and have to make the purchase, the Inversion boots gives us the best bang for our buck.

Besides, we’re getting the best inversion benefits with the Inversion Boots over that of the Table or the Chair.

Again, the winner here is:
